What exactly is the CBD?

Once again to answer the subject of this article, it is important to define exactly what the CBD is.... The term CBD is an acronym that actually stands for cannabidiol.

This famous cannabidiol is naturally present in the Cannabis Sativa plant, also known as Indian hemp. It is therefore a molecule that is part of the chemical components of the plant.

Since 1963, scientific research has brought to light the unsuspected potential hidden in this unloved plant that is cannabis.

However, while its composition has some psychoactive ingredients, it is also rich in beneficial elements with therapeutic properties, such as CBD.

Since cannabidiol is an active substance present in cannabis plants, this does not mean that it causes a high, on the contrary.

CBD is not a psychoactive substance, unlike cannabis, however it cannot be said that it is subject to concrete legalization in France.

Indeed, there is a legal uncertainty surrounding this beneficial molecule. Cannabidiol is legal if, and only if, the THC level of the plant from which it comes does not exceed the limit set by the State, namely 0.2 per cent.

Within France, its consumption and use is therefore authorised, but it must comply with a few rules.

Understanding the difference between CBD and THC

While cannabidiol has a wide range of therapeutic and medicinal properties, THC is far from being the case and has more psychotropic effects.

This is why tetrahydrocannabinol, alias THC, is totally illegal in France. The latter is smoked and has a purely recreational use that represents a danger to health and the development of crime.

Thus, faced with the threat of this harmless looking molecule and the development of cannabis use among teenagers, it is now classified as a narcotic.

Obtaining two such different molecules from a single plant may seem surprising to an ordinary person, which is why CBD has long been associated with THC.

A mistake that has now been exposed. So, to sum up, the consumption of CBD is allowed in France, whereas the consumption of THC-rich cannabis is severely punished by law.

THC is a drug, so be careful to make the distinction!

Moreover, if you are going on a trip to a country where CBD is legal, be careful when buying it. Legislation varies from one state to another and the authorized rate of THC is not the same, so check the percentages carefully or you may have the whole thing seized at customs.

In addition, while France has chosen to legalize CBD, growing cannabis for recreational or other purposes remains prohibited.
